Etta Gero School No. 9 is an elementary school of grades 4 - 6th and 4 Self-Contained Special Education Classes.   The instructional focus is literacy.   This year, the 6th grade has departmentalized.  The literacy instruction is present across the content areas.   Students are exposed to literature-based activities that support research-based instruction.   The staff provides all of the students with meaningful opportunities for success.

Our activities promote academic success and positive behavior.   The staff meets regularly to discuss data, student work, and to use effective research-based teaching practices.   Instruction addresses learning styles and multiple intelligences.

A Community Room has been established to promote a community with strong relationships and an understanding of the values of our diverse society.

"If you want to move people it has to be toward a vision that is positive for them, that taps important values, that gets them something they desire and it has to be presented in a compelling way so that they feel inspired to follow."

                            Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
