School Discipline Policy
A message from Mr. LaBoy, the Vice Principal of No.11

William B. Cruise Memorial School Number Eleven is truly a great place to work and learn for all staff and students. This is reflected in our every-day school atmosphere. Situations which may be considered "discipline problems" are traditionally low occurring at our wonderful school. Realizing this, we have pro-actively implemented a Discipline Plan Package which clearly sets a foundation for expected student behavior. The plan includes components which hope to guide acceptable behavior throughout the school during any given day. Students are introduced to our Discipline Plan Package through lesson plans and daily experience. School rules and consequences are introduced and abided by at several levels. The consequence process is extremely important in that parents are notified of poor student behavior as a corrective measure.

Our plan includes expectations for acceptable behavior throughout our school including the classroom, hallway, stairwell, cafeteria, and playground. We make every effort to guide our students toward corrective behavior while never compromising student safety and the educational process.

SUSPENSION/SEVERE CLAUSE POLICY

When a child repeatedly breaks a school rule and exhausts the consequence component of the Discipline Plan Package, it disrupts the educational process and may affect the safety of other students. At this point, an administrator will evaluate the case, counsel the student, and again contact the parent. In the most severe cases, student suspension from school may be necessary. Under the label of
SEVERE CLAUSE , these incidents require immediate Administrative attention. Below are those items that fall under the SEVERE CLAUSE category:

  • Repeated infractions after the classroom discipline plan has been exhausted
  • Defiance of Authority
    • Purposely and repeatedly not following directions
    • Answering teachers of staff in a disrespectful manner
  • Disorderly Conduct
    • Behaving in a manner unsafe for self or others
    • Behaving in a manner which disrupts the educational process
  • Physical Violence
    • Hitting, fighting, pushing
  • Profanity
  • Defacing and/or destroying property
  • Weapons
    • Real or fake (such as toy guns)
    • Anything used as a weapon
  • Theft
